Wool is biodegradable, breathable, highly versatile and is typically made from the fleece of sheep (but can also come from goats, alpacas, rabbits and camels). It is one of the most sustainable fabrics and that’s why we love it. Wool has antibacterial properties so it does not require frequent washing. It is naturally water repellent, fire resistant and long-lasting.
Our wool is sourced from high quality animal welfare farms; we use only ethical wool that is certified cruelty free and was manufactured under the highest standards of GOTS and/or The Woolmark Company, and we ensure that all our wools are certified mulesing-free. Mulesing is a controversial and cruel practice similar to circumcision where pieces of skin are removed unnecessarily and without any pain relief to prevent infection that can be managed in other ways. The only country that uses this technique is Australia, but none of our Australian farms practice mulesing.
