Silk

Silk is the world’s most luxurious fiber and is made by spinning and weaving the fibers from the chrysalis of silkworms. It is completely biodegradable and has a low environmental impact. Conventional silk production uses small amounts of pesticide and fertilizer, but the impact is far lower than cotton or synthetics.

The negative aspect of conventional silk production involves boiling the silkworm chrysalis before the moths have emerged. The alternative to traditional silk is Peace Silk, where the silkworms are able to turn into moths and emerge naturally from their cocoons, but we haven’t yet found a Peace Silk that is high enough quality to use in our garments.

All of our silk is spun, dyed and woven in the Lake Como area of Italy, and certified by Seri.co. The certificate guarantees the health and safety of workers and the avoidance of any form of environmental pollution.
